MINIERA D’ORO DELLA GUIA

The Guia Gold Mine dates back to the 18th century; it is a permanent museum that penetrates into the mountain: the tunnels allow you to retrace the miners’ journey and testify to the search for gold practised for years. It was then closed in 1945, not for lack of gold, but for the high cost of labour.
The journey takes about 45 minutes, all flat and well lit over 750 m where you can see the tunnels dug by hand for about 200 years. It is the only gold mine that can be visited in Italy and Europe that is also accessible to the disabled. Inside there is a constant temperature of 9 °C and 97% humidity.
The mine is open from June to September (a minimum of 3 adults plus the guide is required for entry for security reasons) and then all year by appointment for groups of at least 15 paying people.
