To the enthusiast walkers, the Mount Mottarone offers a myriad path with panoramic and historic interest. With its 1491 metres, this imposing but gentle mountain divides Lake Maggiore from Lake d'Orta, and offers breathtaking panoramas and foreshortened views. From its peak it’s possible to see 7 lakes (Orta, Maggiore, Mergozzo, Biandronno, Varese, Monate, Comabbio), the Po Valley and the chain of the Alps from Monviso to the Massif of Mount Rosa.

The cableway which connects Stresa to Mount Mottarone makes a stop at Giardino Alpinia, a botanical garden designed to preserve the Alpine flora. This magnificent garden of great natural and environmental value has been included by an international jury among the six most beautiful panoramic views in the world.
